Open-Access Instruments
Gyros Protein Technologies Symphony® X Peptoid Synthesizer
Automated high-throughput parallel syntheses of peptides, peptidomimetics, and peptide-polymer conjugates.
High Pressure Supercritical Fluid Optical Floating Zone Furnace
The first optical floating zone furnace in the world to achieve stable operation at 300 bar of pressure, the high-pressure supercritical fluid optical floating zone furnace enables crystal growth at elevated pressure and temperatures.
High Temp Muffle 1
The 2DCC High-Temperature Muffle Furnace operates up to 1800°C for growing single crystals with melting points above 1100°C, accepting samples up to 6 × 6 × 6 inches, with programmable control and ±1°C temperature accuracy.
High-Throughput Micro-Rheometer
A custom-built micro-rheology platform for the rapid analysis of material viscoelasticity.
Hybrid MBE (MBE 2)
The 2DCC Hybrid Chalcogenide Molecular Beam Epitaxial (MBE) system is an MBE system dedicated to the growth of chalcogenide thin films. The hybrid MBE approach in particular enables the synthesis of chalcogenide materials containing refractory metallic components through the addition of a gas injector system allowing to supply these elements
In-Situ Observability
At PARADIM in-situ observability provides insight into the elemental composition and crystallization process, and is essential to rapidly optimizing new electronic materials.
Living Biofoundry
An automated platform for synthetic biology.
MALDI-2 Mass Spectrometer (timsTOF Pro/fleX)
Bruker’s MALDI-2 mass spectrometer houses a platform that allows for the acquisition of data in both electrospray and MALDI modes. Samples ranging from tissues to purified molecules can be analyzed on the instrument.
MBE1
The 2DCC Multi-Module integrates MBE with in-situ cryogenic ARPES and four-tip STM for atmosphere-free sample transfer and rapid 2D material development. It features seven effusion cells, a six-pocket e-beam evaporator, in-situ RHEED and ellipsometry, up to 2-inch wafers, a 4-tip nanoprobe, SEM positioning, and 200 gauss field; argon sputtering.
MOCVD1
The MOCVD1 system is a cold-wall, 2-inch wafer MOCVD reactor (SiC-coated susceptor) up to 1000 °C, water-cooled, with wafer rotation for uniformity. It features a nitrogen-purged glovebox, gas panel, LabView control, six bubblers, H2Se/H2S lines, H2/N2 process gases, 10–700 Torr, exhaust scrubber, and a 16-point chemcassette monitor with interlock.
MOCVD2
MOCVD2 is a custom designed multi-module system from CVD Equipment Corporation. The system includes a load lock and high vacuum robotic transfer stage with three additional ports. A stainless-steel chamber for metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) of chalcogenides is connected to one of the ports. The chamber consists of temperature-controlled wall
Magnetic and Electrical Physical Property Measurements
The physical properties characterization platform is consisting of quantum design physical properties measurement system (PPMS) and Magnetic properties measurement system (MPMS), accessible via existing cross-share agreements.
Molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE)
MBE of any 11 of 62 elements at one time and refills without breaking chamber vacuum.
Mono1 DLP Printer
405nm light-driven projection printer.
Mono3 DLP Printer
Multi-wavelength light-driven projection printer.
Mono3MZ2 Panchromatic Printer
Visible light printer with five LED sources for printing objects from 3D models.
Muffle Furnace
The 2DCC operates five 1200°C Muffle Furnaces for melt growth, flux growth, and solid-state reactions. One furnace is inside a fume hood for toxic elements (e.g., lead, arsenic). Each furnace accepts ampoules up to 15 cm (or multiple shorter ones) and offers programmable, multi-segment ramp/dwell profiles.
Nanotemper Monolith Pico Microscale Thermophoresis (MST)
Nanotemper’s Monolith MST measures binding affinities using very little sample, providing a broad range of dissociation constants (Kds) ranging from pM to mM. Because the Monolith MST uses a very small amount of sample, we can obtain Kds in a fraction of the volume and concentration as is required by isothermal titration calorimetry.
