PARADIM in-house researchers have published a comprehensive thermodynamic analysis evaluating the suitability of 128 binary oxides as source materials for oxide molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE). The study identifies 16 oxides that evaporate nearly congruently from stable sources and highlights an additional 24 oxides with dominant gas species suitable for beam formation. The work also explores two-phase mixtures as a strategy to improve congruent evaporation.

Featured as an Editor’s Pick, the paper was also selected as the cover article for the August 2020 issue of APL Materials.
